Facial Care: Before & After – Dos & Don’ts


Do (Before Your Facial)

Arrive with a clean face (no heavy makeup).

Communicate your skin concerns with your esthetician.
-
Stay hydrated — drink water before your appointment.
-
Follow your regular skincare routine the night before (unless advised otherwise).
-
Schedule wisely — avoid facials right before a big event if it’s your first time.
-
Wash your pillowcase and clean your phone screen to reduce bacteria.

Don’t (Before Your Facial)

Don’t wax, shave, or thread your face within 24 hours before your facial.
-
Don’t use strong exfoliants or retinol for 3–5 days prior.
-
Don’t get Botox or fillers within 1–2 weeks before your appointment.

Don’t spend long hours in the sun or use tanning beds before your treatment.

Don’t pick or squeeze pimples leading up to your facial.

Do (After Your Facial)

Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized.
-
Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water.
-
Apply sunscreen daily and reapply every 4 hours.
-
Follow product recommendations from your esthetician.
-
Allow your skin to rest and repair naturally.
-
Change your pillowcase and clean your phone regularly to avoid bacteria on fresh skin.

Don’t (After Your Facial)
-
Don’t wear heavy makeup for at least 24 hours.

Don’t touch or pick at your skin.
-
Don’t do intense workouts, sauna, or steam for 24–48 hours.
-
Don’t use harsh products (acids, scrubs, retinol) for 3–5 days.
-
Don’t expose skin to direct sunlight or tanning for a few days.
